She was born Feb. 25, 1930, in LaPorte to Ransom and Lucille (Holloway) Hakes.
Edna enjoyed sewing Barbie doll clothing and making dolls for needy children in the area, while raising six children of her own.
On Aug. 3, 1947, in LaPorte, she married Russell A. McCullough Sr., who preceded her in death Jan. 23, 2010.
Edna was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Katheryn Newland, son-in-law Frosty Lain, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two sons, Russell A. McCullough Jr. of Hamlet, IN, and Larry McCullough of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Pat (Dennis) Read of Oconto, NE, Vicki Lain of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Susan (Billy) Adams of Kingsford Heights, IN; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Hakes of LaPorte; and two sisters, Josephine Mitchell and Ruth Williamson, both of LaPorte.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Monday, Sept. 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Patton Cemetery, LaPorte.
