Metheny: I am ready to serve

Running for LaPorte County Commissioner has been a long time coming for me. I have paid my dues as a citizen advocate, and proven myself to be committed to the public good. For years, I taped County Commission and Council meetings, with no pay, for Public Access. As the 16-year host of the former weekly cable show “It’s Time to Blow the Whistle,” and 4-year co-host (with the late Al Austin) of the WEFM radio show “Talk of the Town,” I have uncovered mismanagement and corruption at the county level. I’m relentless, and always do my research. I expose elected officials who choose politics and privilege over public service.
My experience includes serving on the County Health Board, and as Coolspring Township Trustee. I am a retired electrician, having served as a 37-year member of Local 531 in LaPorte. A lifelong learner, I have a locksmith license, pilot’s license, and real estate license. I am a Vietnam-era Navy veteran who worked on an anti-submarine warfare vessel. I am a firm believer in thriftiness, accountability, availability, openness, honesty, and integrity.
Retired and in excellent health, I intend to be in the office every day of the week. This is unlike my opponent, who runs a full-time medical practice and is almost never in the office.
I have chosen to self-fund my campaign because I don’t want to owe anybody. I am NOT a political insider. I will always be for the people, and NEVER be “for sale.”
When you vote on Nov. 8, I ask you to consider my lengthy record of service and integrity. It has been rewarding to serve the public interest, and I now ask to serve you at a higher level.
Dennis Metheny
Candidate for LaPorte County Commissioner
