Good Friday Cross Walk is April 14

The Greater LaPorte County Ministerial Association will hold its annual Cross Walk on Good Friday, April 14, in LaPorte. All are welcome to participate in all or part of the walk.

The annual tradition will start this year at noon at First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Ave. Six downtown churches and LaPorte Hospital will host the stations where walkers will visit to hear short messages on words Jesus uttered from the cross.

The schedule and approximate times are as follows:

First Word: “Father, Forgive Them” — First UMC, 1225 Michigan Ave., hosted by Pastor Bob Vale

Second Word: “Today You Shall Be With Me in Paradise” — St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1000 Michigan Ave., hosted by Father Paul Nesta

Third Word: “Behold thy Mother” — LaPorte New Church, 812 Indiana Ave., hosted by Pastor Kit Billings

Fourth Word: “My God, My God, Why Have you Forsaken Me?” — Christ Church, 802 Indiana Ave., hosted by Pastor Kevin Galloway

Fifth Word: “ I Thirst” — St Mary’s of the Angels, 811 Monroe St., hosted by Father Frank Endres

Sixth Word: “It is Finished” — LaPorte Hospital Chapel, hosted by Chaplain Ray Francis

Seventh Word: “Into thy Hands I Commit my Spirit” — Bethany Lutheran Church, 102 G St., hosted by Pastor Dennis Meyer
