Moments in Time, April 11

April 11, 1917 — As the world war rages, LaPorte will have a patriotic celebration called “Your Country Needs You” this Friday to Sunday. There will be a parade with music, flags, and marching soldiers and citizens.

April 11, 1967 — The economy is beginning to show the effects of the nationwide trucking shutdown, but LaPorte has felt little pain yet from the industry lockout.

April 11, 1992 — President Bush will be the sixth president to appear at the University of Notre Dame.

April 11, 2007 — An apparent murder-suicide of a husband and wife is the second such incident in LaPorte County in less than two days.
