April 14, 1917 — Thousands in LaPorte marched in a mighty procession in appreciation of their citizenship on the biggest day in the city’s history.

April 14, 1967 — Two witnesses testify that Richard Speck was eating a hamburger at the time the state claims he was killing eight student nurses in Chicago.

April 14, 1992 — The Michigan City School Board approves the closing of Elston High School.

April 14, 2007 — The zoo in Michigan City welcomes two new sea otters from Illinois.
