A LaPorte man was arrested minutes after the Marathon gas station at 1338 Ind. 2 West was robbed by an armed man Thursday night, May 4, 2017. Jonathon W. Thode, 31, is charged with robbery, a Level 3 felony.

LaPorte Police said that at about 8:46 p.m., they were dispatched to the gas station after a man displayed a handgun and demanded money. After being given money and cigarettes, the man left on foot, heading east.

 

After getting a description, other officers in the area who were searching for the suspect spotted Thode in the 2200 block of West 18th Street, who matched the description and was in possession of evidence from the robbery, police said.

Thode was being held in LaPorte County Jail. The felony carries a possible sentence of 3-16 years imprisonment and up to a $10,000 fine if Thode is convicted of the original charge.
