Learn how to administer Naxolone and CPR at free session May 17

A free session that will teach adult community members how to administer Naxalone (Narcan) to those who have overdosed on drugs, as well as teach hands-only CPR, will be held May 17 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Keys to Hope Community Resource Center, 1802 Franklin St., Michigan City.

Sponsors for this free training program for the public are the LaPorte County Health Department and the LaPorte County Drug Free Partnership.

    So, I get the CPR training – makes sense to learn how to help save lives. But learning how to give Naxolone to an addict to help them recover, and in most cases only to do it again!? Are there any statistics showing the percentage of multiple “administering” sessions to the same person? What is wrong with this picture?

    In light of this where could one learn to administer dextrose to a type one diabetic when their blood sugar is too low for them to help their selves?
