Just a few spots remain for shelter’s Animal Care Camp for Kids June 20-22

A few openings still remain for the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter’s 8th annual Animal Care Camp for Kids, which will be held June 20, 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the shelter, 2855 W. Ind. 2, LaPorte. The camp is open to kids ages 6-14.

The Animal Care Camp is designed for kids who truly have a love for animals. This action-packed camp will cover all aspects of animal care, including proper grooming techniques, pet first aid with both large- and small-animal veterinarians, shelter care, and responsible pet ownership. Kids will get to see and interact with a variety of animals, large and small!

The camp will be led by Miranda Reeves, owner of Four Star Behavior Pet Training School in Wanatah.

The cost is just $75 for all three days! (Kids will need to pack a lunch.)

Day 1:

Kennel work/animal interaction

Presentation by large-animal veterinarian

Large-animal hoof care

Pet rescue

Llama demonstration

Day 2:

Kennel work/animal interaction

LaPorte County sheriff K-9 demonstration

Surgery observation

Pet grooming

Pet safety with Kathy Albrecht

Draft horse Wagon Masters

Day 3:

Kennel work/animal interaction

Presentation by Washington Park Zoo, Michigan City

Transitions Equestrian Center “Prodigy”

Goat agility
