May 13, 1917 — The German Zeppelin L-22 is brought down and destroyed in the North Sea. It is believed the airship was on its way to attack England.

May 13, 1967 — In an emotional voice, Pope Paul VI warns “the world is in danger” and prays to the Virgin Mary for “the gift—which only God can give—of peace.”

May 13, 1992 — Shocked and scared by the slow police response to last month’s riots, thousands of Los Angeles residents are buying guns and learning how to use them.

May 13, 2007 — After 35 years, Bob Barker calls it quits as host of “The Price Is Right.”
