May 16, 1917 — How to speed up the war work and best solve the food problem were two questions very seriously troubling President Wilson today.

May 16, 1967 — An agreement is reached on a per-diem hospital room rate for township poor relief cases in five area hospitals, two in LaPorte and three in Michigan City.

May 16, 1992 — Clear Lake Park in Westville is scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend. It was closed last year because the lake was too high.

May 16, 2007 — A violent storm shortly after 3:30 p.m. yesterday sent trees crashing and residents seeking cover throughout LaPorte County.
