Never considered a cat or kitten as a pet? You’re missing out. These beautiful creatures will brighten your home by playing, purring, cuddling and more. The LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter has plenty of cats and kittens available for adoption right now. (Please reduce the number of homeless felines in the future by having your cat spayed or neutered.)

Sara Kessler, photographer of the shelter’s available pets, said it well: “If you think animals at your local shelter are ‘damaged’ or ‘unwanted,’ think again! The truth is, these are some of the most appreciative, loving, gentle and kindhearted animals you will find anywhere! Most of these animals know what it’s like to not have a loving home or a good family. Once they get a chance at a good life, you can bet they will do anything to thank you.”

If you’re interested in giving any of these beauties a home, call 219-326-1637 or visit the shelter at 2855 W. Ind. 2, LaPorte. Adoption hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Check back with WNLP and visit the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter page on Facebook to see pets up for adoption, as well as adoption success stories and pets brought in as strays.

Speaking of success stories, this foxy girl whose name is now Kit is destined for a pampered life from here on:
