Everything from wine to whiskey (and plenty of music) in symphony’s A La Carte series

The LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra proudly presents its 4th annual “A La Carte” Fundraiser Series.

“A La Carte” is a series of eight events presented from June through November 2017 that includes a scotch whiskey tasting, presentation of a vintage car collection, an afternoon tea, dinner and a concert, a Greek cooking class and dinner, a lazy afternoon August wine tasting, a mystery dinner, and a concert by a Chicago Beatles cover band at Summer Dunes Theatre.

Prices vary and 100% of each attendee’s participation goes directly to the LCSO.

The details on each event:

— Afternoon tea: Tuesday, June 6, 2:30-4:30 p.m., Portofino restaurant, LaPorte. Hosted by Dr. Hester Muller and Jack Allen. Limit: 30 people. $50 per person. Entertainment provided by Meg Rodgers, harpist.

— Luck of the Draw: Saturday, June 17, 5:30 p.m.- ?? Thaddeus C. Gallery, LaPorte, followed by dinner in various homes. Hosted by Thaddeus and Laura Cutler, Jack Allen, Dr. Hester Muller, Roy and Jane Langford, Larry and Suzan Wade, Greg and Maria Fruth, Richard Johnson and Jason Whalen, and Dr. Ross and Sue Lawrence. $75 per person. Limit: 32 people.   

— British Invasion (Beatles cover band): Saturday, July 8, 8 p.m., Dunes Summer Theatre, Michiana Shores. Hosted by Tim King and Kevin Noland. Open beer and wine bar. $50 per person; limit 240 people.

— “An Affair to Remember” wine, dinner and performance: Saturday, July 29, 6-9 p.m. Hosted by Leigh and Marcia Morris. Performers: Tim King, tenor, and Jim Pickley, pianist, performing the music of Henry Mancini and Andy Williams. $75 per person; limit 40 people.

— Wine Notes: wine tasting with hors d’oeuvres and performance, Saturday, Aug. 19, 2-5 p.m., Shady Creek Winery. Hosted by Jill Klingbeil and Jaime and Tony Oss. Entertainment by Northern Indiana Brass. $50 per person; limit 30 people.

— Opa! Greek Cafe: Greek cooking class and dinner, Thursday, Sept. 21, 6-8 p.m., Cummings Lodge on Stone Lake. Hosted by Sally Fischer with Chef Brad Hindsley. $60 per person; limit 40 people.

— Scotch 3.0: dinner, drams and roundtable discussion featuring Scottish whiskeys and a 5-course dinner, Saturday, Oct. 21, 7-10 p.m. Hosted by Howard Jones and Dionne Lovstad-Jones. $125 per person; limit 15 people.

— A Ride Down Memory Lane: lunch and presentation of the Kesling vintage auto collection with Dr. Peter Kesling. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., LaPorte County Historical Society Museum. Hosted by Leigh and Marcia Morris. $50 per person; limit 30 people.
