Update May 23: 2nd suspect turns himself in after May 11 bank robbery


UPDATE MAY 23: On Sunday, May 21, Bryan Burch walked into the lobby of the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office and turned himself in.


A Michigan City man was arrested May 17, 2017, and a warrant was issued for another Michigan City man regarding the robbery of 5th/3rd Bank, 3710 Franklin St., on May 11.

Keith English, 42, was being held at LaPorte County Jail on one count of aiding, inducing, causing robbery, with a bond of $25,000. He was taken into custody in Gary by the Fugitive Apprehension Street Team (FAST).


An arrest warrant has been issued for Bryan Burch, 43, on one count of robbery, with bond to be set at $25,000. He was still at large as of late afternoon May 18.

The bank was robbed May 11 at about 4 p.m. Witnesses said a heavy-set white male indicated to a teller that he had a weapon. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

This investigation was successful with the help of many officers and detectives along with the assistance of the public, according to the Michigan City Police Department.
