Footlight Players to host summer Youth Acting Workshop

Footlight Players of Michigan City, with financial assistance from the Michigan City Enrichment Corporation, will conduct a youth workshop for youths between the ages of 10 and 17 interested in theater. There is no experience necessary and there will be no charge to the participants.

This workshop will be headed by Robert W. Komendera, Lee Meyer and Debbie Bartholomew. Each of these instructors has over 40 years of experience in music and community theater and will be focusing the sessions on stage presence, character development, music appreciation, the art of auditioning, hair and makeup design, and staging a full-length musical production.

The sessions will be held at the Footlight Theater, 1705 Franklin St., Michigan City, and will begin July 10 and end Aug. 27. Sessions will be held weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

To showcase the students’ endeavors, a production of “The Death And Good Times Of Julius Caesar, A Tragic Farce” will be staged on the Footlight Theater’s stage Friday, Aug. 25, and Saturday, Aug. 26, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m.
