2017 LaPorte Jaycees 4th of July Parade — 1

Photos by Mike Kellems (click to enlarge)

Here are photos Mike Kellems took for WNLP during the parade. More photos later from Bob Wellinski and more!

Here’s a patriotic trio making a fashion statement.

National Guard Warthogs buzz the route.

(Photos above and below): Even in the midst of the parade, emergency personnel are at the ready. While the parade was in progress a report came in of a man having a heart attack in the 900 Block of Lincolnway. Deputy Jon Burger was walking with the sheriff’s office display, grabbed an Automatic External Defibrillator and ran to the scene. The patient was transported to the hospital by LaPorte County EMS. Emergency responders also came to the aid of a New Prairie band member who began to faint along the parade route.

Mike says of his pal Wellinski, “Here’s the SECOND best photographer at the parade!”

Capturing the spirit of the day.

Which way to the Ponderosa?

The sheriff’s office contingent: John Boyd, Scott Lanoue, Marvin McCoy, Jon Burger and Ron Heeg.

They know how to rock the flag T-shirts.

Quite possibly the coolest hat along the route.

Helping to keep the peace: Abbie Burger, who has been with her dad and the sheriff’s team on parade days since kindergarten.
