LaPorte Police searching for 2 males who abused kitten

The good news is the kitten is on the road to recovery and may be put up for adoption soon. The bad news is that the kitten was seriously injured by being repeatedly kicked by two males.

LaPorte Police are now searching for the males, described as white and in their late teens to early 20s and seen traveling in an older-model, white, possibly Audi sedan. A plate number was provided, but it did not return to the same described vehicle.

The abuse happened on July 6, 2017, at about noon in the front yard of 507 block of Detroit Street. Witnesses called police after they saw the males repeatedly kick the animal. The witnesses, who were in a passing car, stopped their car and confronted the abusers, who then left in the white sedan.

Police Specialist Bill Bunton took the kitten to the LaPorte County Animal Shelter, where Dr. Patrick Dorroh, who provides medical care for animals at the shelter, gave the kitten emergency care.

The black and white “tuxedo” kitten may soon be up for adoption at the shelter if it continues to do well.

If you have any information regarding this case, please contact Police Specialist Bunton at (219) 362-9446. You may also private message the department on its Facebook page.

When they find these young men, make sure the punishment includes the appropriate legal charges, extensive community service at the animal shelter and cleaning out the horse stables for the sheriffs posse.
