Pet of the Day: Franklin (plus, Mario — now Hossa — will perhaps be watching a lot of hockey)

Gaze into those soulful brown eyes. Franklin is clearly yearning for a home. WNLP and the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter present this handsome boy, a 1-year-old Labrador/beagle mix. Franklin is kindhearted and very eager to please.

If you’re interested in adopting Franklin or any of the shelter’s pets available for adoption, call 219-326-1637 or visit the shelter at 2855 W. Ind. 2, LaPorte. Adoption hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Check back with WNLP and visit the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter page on Facebook to see pets up for adoption, as well as adoption success stories and pets brought in as strays.

And here’s a success story: This four-footed fellow was known as Mario before. But apparently his new best friend is a Chicago Blackhawks fan. Mario Lemieux was a former Pittsburgh Penguins great. Now the former Mario is known as Hossa — as in Marian Hossa.
