Portraits from the fair, by Wellinski — 3

The LaPorte County Fair always winds down with a rather bittersweet event — the auction. While bidders offer generous amounts for livestock and other items, 4-H members have to let go of the animals they raised. This year’s auction also included some unique items — sculptures hand-carved at the fair by chainsaw artists Bear Hollow Wood Carvers. Auctioneer Jim Lestinsky and his crew handled the duties to wrap up this year’s fair.

On July 16, we’ll post a few fair-time gems by Wellinski that you haven’t seen yet …

All fair-ed out.

I’m out!

Auctioneer Jim Lestinsky (upper left) and crew take bids for the grand champion steer.

Sculptures by Bear Hollow Wood Carvers.

This requires serious consultation.

That’s a happy bidder.
