LaPorte County Fair 2017: Let’s close with these gems …

WNLP photos (except for one) by Bob Wellinski (click to enlarge)

We saved a few of the best for last as the LaPorte County Fair ends for another year. The first several photos show that sometimes, 4-Hers can do all the preparation in the world but when it comes to showtime, their animals might have other ideas. The first few show Logan Tuholski, 9, trying a half nelson on his sheep, who just did NOT want to stay in the ring. Despite its two attempts to break free, Logan managed to hang on. The next few photos show an entrant in the 4-H chicken-flying contest that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that chickens aren’t very good at that sort of thing. Perhaps its owner was thinking, “As God is my witness, I thought this chicken could fly.” And finally, our intrepid photographer handed his camera off to his wife, Mary, as he once again plunged his face into a pie in a sporting competition that surpasses all others when it comes to skill and dedication. He came in second. Should’ve tried the apple, Bob.

The photos of this year’s fair were wonderful. I’m wondering why little if any attention was given to the 4H Horse & Pony kids or the competition. Use to at least have pics of the Ambassador winners. (In the past they were known as the Horse & Pony King & Queen)

Bob, would it be possible to get a print of the photo of our son Luke as he watches a chicken fly down? He is the guy with glasses and a gray
tee – an adult member of the 4-H Poultry committee. and a former 10 yr 4-H member.

Linda, you can download the photo to your computer by clicking on it to enlarge, then right-clicking on “save as.” Then you can have it printed or whatever. — WNLP
