25 citations issued, some arrests made during 2nd U.S. 20 traffic enforcement blitz

In the 2nd traffic enforcement blitz along U.S. 20 in as many months, the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police issued 25 tickets and 90 warnings, and also issued citations/made arrests for the following violations:

  • Driving While Suspended- Prior~ 2
  • No Valid License~ 2
  • Possession of Marijuana~ 1
  • False Identity~1
  • Possession of Gun w/o Permit~ 1

The blitz took place Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. along U.S. 20 in LaPorte County. Four state troopers and three sheriff’s deputies worked the blitz, particularly focusing on the areas where multiple crashes have occurred.

In a two-day blitz in June along U.S. 20, state and county police made 25 arrests and issued 88 tickets and 410 warnings. 

More U.S. 20 blitzes are planned for the future. The cooperative enforcement effort between the two police agencies is targeting a stretch of road that has seen several fatal crashes and numerous injury crashes in the past two years.
