No in-water boat show in Michigan City this year

The Michigan City In-Water Boat Show, a staple since 1980, will not happen this year.

“We have received word from the Lake Erie Marine Trade Association that they will not be producing a boat show in Michigan City for 2017,” the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau announced the first week of August.

“This decision does not come as a surprise to us” bureau Director Jack Arnett said in a press release. “We have been in communication with them for the past few months and it became apparent several weeks ago that they would not be able to do the show. We did everything possible that we could do from our end.”

Visit Michigan City LaPorte, Michigan City Port Authority, the City of Michigan City and B&E Marine have formed a committee and have started discussions with a new promoter looking ahead to 2018.

“It is our goal to have a bigger and better event that can take the place of the current show,” Arnett said.

Doesn’t surprise me considering it cost 10.00 a person to enter. 5.00 I can see, but not 10.00.

doesn’t sound like the fee had anything to do with it. 5 bucks doesn’t get you much anymore Sarah
