More than 200 athletes — ranging in age from teens to 90s (!) — flocked to LaPorte from several states (as well as Indiana) Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, to compete in the LaPorte County Family YMCA’s 38th annual Triathlon. The challenging swim/bike/run event originated at Soldiers Memorial Park in LaPorte.

The top male and female finishers were Robert Langer of Valparaiso with a time of 1:03:11, and Shanna Bonnell of Star City, IN, with a time of 1:08:22. But stealing the show and the admiration of all was 92-year-old Robert McKeague of Illinois, who finished the race in an inspirational 2:36:55.
