Clara Roseman, 1929-2017

Clara Mae Roseman, 88, of Decatur, Indiana, and formerly of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

Clara was born February 22, 1929, in Starke County, Indiana, to Raymond and Irene (Saine) Dye.

Clara retired from American Rubber as a machine operator. She was a former member of Tracy United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Orlando, Florida.

On April 24, 1953, in North Judson, Indiana, she married Dale T. “Rosie” Roseman, who preceded her in death on September 6, 2005.

She is survived by two daughters, Jayne Bates of Orlando and Debra (Chris) Yeaney of LaPorte; one son, Jeffrey (Susan) Roseman of Decatur, Indiana; four grandsons, Kenneth (Mary) Bates, Matthew Yeaney, Andrew Yeaney and Ryan Depoister; a very special great-grandson, Caleb Bates; and a very special extended family.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Dennis D. Roseman; one son-in-law, David L. Bates; and her sister, Lorraine.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, August 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service shortly before 1 p.m. at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Great Southwest Council, at aplacetogive.scouting.org to benefit future generations with priceless “life-achieving knowledge,” including, especially, her own great-grandson Caleb’s lifelong achievements!  A zip code search for 81301 on the site would benefit Caleb’s troop directly.

Messages of condolence may be posted below on WNLP as well as at www.esslingfuneralhome.com.

To Jayne Bates and her family: Sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. We remember her as a lovely, generous person who always had kind words to say. Remember her from old JCP when Jayne worked in Catalog Department before moving to Florida. ……with

Thank you Joannie for your kind comments. I am going to miss her so much! But she’s with Daddy now and my brother, Dennis, and I know she is a lot happier.

I was fortunate enough to work with Clara and Rosie at American Rubber. Two finer people could not be found. My sincere condolences to Clara’s family for their loss.

Mr. Bernel, I am her eldest daughter and I remember that she always spoke very highly of you, and my daddy did too. American Rubber was our bread and butter and they never could understand when someone spoke poorly of it. It fed, clothed, housed and took care of us for many years. I am going to miss her so much, but she is a lot happier now with daddy.

Thank you for your reply. I had nothing but the highest regard for your parents; hard working and loyal to their beliefs and family. I am better for knowing them and the example they set.
