Items from local business, “Prancer” memorabilia among July donations to museum

This vintage handmade doll was donated by Donna Eichelberg.

July 2017 visitors to the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum came from 19 counties and 18 states, as well as Canada, France, Germany, Norway and Australia.

Events for August have included the 6th annual Memorial Gardens on Aug. 5 and a Painting Party with art instructor Dori Huber to be held Aug. 12. The deadline for the “Then & Now” photo contest is Aug. 26. There are still plenty of photos from which to choose in the historical society’s collection, or use one you already have from before 1980. Applications and guidelines are available at the front desk of the museum. The current display, “A Cozy Cover-up: A Look at LaPorte County Quilts” will remain up until the end of August.

The first Pioneer Day was held July 8. The Kiwanis Club of LaPorte used the meeting room at the museum for a tour and meeting on July 20. The 10th annual Old Car Show was held on the grounds of the museum July 29. It was very well attended by car owners and the public alike.
