— Junior Shelby Riehle set a new course record with a time of 18:35.66 to win the Jack Bransford Invitational by 45 seconds. The Slicer Girls fell just one point shy of Crown Point, 40-41, to finish second among the field of 5 teams. Kat Shuble was 5th (19:58), Rachel Gerick 9th (20:24) Jenny Noll 10th (20:34) and Izzi Applegarth 16th (21:23).

— The Slicer boys also took 2nd at the Bransford Invitational with a total of 58 points. Crown Point took the win slot. For LaPorte, junior Mitchell Gits and senior Adam Gasaway finished 7th and 8th respectively. Coming in next for the Slicers was Corbin Alexander, followed by Michael Nichols and Ben Martin.

— The LaPorte girls volleyball team won their own invitational for the 2nd year in a row and earned 4 victories in the process. In their first match vs. Prairie Heights, the Slicers won 25-14, 24-14. In the second match, the Slicers made short work of Goshen, winning 25-9, 25-12. In the semifinal match, LaPorte defeated Huntington North, 25-16, 25-16. In the championship match, the Slicers were put to the test and went three games with the New Prairie Cougars, taking home the title 22-25, 25-21, 15-8.

— LaPorte’s boys tennis team had a tough match, falling to Highland, 5-0. Individual results: 1 singles — Matthew Cotner d. Tristen Poe 6-3, 6-0. 2 singles — Meet Patel d. Adam Manering 6-4, 6-4. 3 singles — Steven Fowler d. Garrett Menke 6-1, 6-4. 1 doubles — Mason Gluth/Alex Lopez d. Trevor Perry/Brant Maudlin 6-1, 7-5. 2 doubles — Chris Peters/Fred Kepler d. Abe Gray/Graham Siefker 6-1, 6-1.

— The Slicer girls golf team finished 4th among 9 teams with a 371 (best round to date so far this season) at the Warsaw Invitational. Individual results: Hannah Schuster, 88; Bethany Schuster, 93; Emily Wilmsen, 94; Madeline Fleshman, 96; Rylee Ogle, 112.

— LaPorte’s girls soccer team sailed past Hobart, 4-0. It was the Gabrielle Latchford show as the sophomore scored 3 of the Slicers’ 4 goals. Sophomore Morgan Llewellyn added the other goal. Slicer defense was led by junior Megan Blank and sophomores Shelby Linn and Jasmine Diaz.
