Lose power along or near Johnson Road Thursday afternoon? Here’s why

Alex Mason sent WNLP these shots he took of a vehicle after it struck a utility pole on Johnson Road across from Arbor Hill Inn. The accident happened at about 2:30 p.m., he said. The driver was not seriously injured; it was not immediately known why the car left the road. A power transformer came loose from the pole, causing the outage. A NIPSCO supervisor was one of the first to pass by, Alex said, and police and NIPSCO crews were on scene within minutes. NIPSCO was still working at the site as of 4 p.m.
