Sept. 8, 1917 — U.S. relations with Sweden are strained.

Sept. 8, 1967 — The enrollment count in the LaPorte Community School District is 7,746, 44 above the comparable count of a year ago.

Sept. 8, 1992 — Speaking about President Bush’s comparisons of him with President Truman, Truman’s daughter Margaret said there are no similarities between them “in thought, word or deed.”

Sept. 8, 2007 — Duneland Lutheran High School has a new location at 617 N. Franklin St. in Michigan City.
