Wearing a No. 1 Colts jersey with his name on the back, Bubby Burek spent Wednesday evening, Sept. 6, demonstrating his football passing skills outside LaPorte’s Buffalo Wild Wings during the To Bubby with Love fundraiser. The evening was dedicated to the local 3-year-old’s amazing recovery from a near-fatal farm accident in June, and to thank the emergency crews who took extraordinary measures to save him.

Bubby got a Colts jersey and football as his grandfather, Ed, also received a Colts jersey. Ed was driving the tractor that accidentally ran over Bubby on the family farm.

Also during the celebration, Medflight RN Raenelle Hamilton and Medflight paramedic Chris Chapin gave the family a bag of goodies. The Indianapolis Colts organization highlighted the evening with its Colts in Motion trailer. Emergency crews from LaPorte County EMS, LaPorte County Police, LaPorte City Police, Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department, and Medflight also attended to celebrate Bubby’s miraculous recovery.  Buffalo Wild Wings donated proceeds from the night to help with Bubby’s medical costs.
