Sept. 9, 1917 — Bleeding Russia, town by revolution and trembling under the blows of Germany’s powerful military machine, faces fresh disasters.

Sept. 9, 1967 — The nationwide strike by the United Auto Workers against the Ford Motor Co., already in its third day, could last at least another month.

Sept. 9, 1992 — Its facilities have doubled and enrollment has tripled, but expansion hasn’t changed the family atmosphere at Purdue North Central in Westville.

Sept. 9, 2007 — Democratic presidential hopeful former Sen. John Edwards will visit Michigan City Sept. 25 for a fundraising event.
