Sept. 11, 1917 — There is an unconfirmed report that Premier Kerensky of Russia was assassinated.

Sept. 11, 1967 — Demonstrators disrupt the Senate by showering leaflets demanding withdrawal of American troops from Vietnam and an end to the military draft.

Sept. 11, 1992 — Just 13 days after the death of his wife Ellen, Vincent Essling dies following his third heart attack. The Esslings were co-owners and founders of the funeral home at 1117 Indiana Ave.

Sept. 11, 2007 — The Door Village Festival celebrates its 18th year.
