Educator: Allison Goshorn discussed some of the educational programs/lessons for 2017/2018 such as Food and Nutrition-Be Heart Smart, Dining with Diabetes, Farm to Freezer to Table, and Brain Health: 14 Tips.

President’s report: Pat Day discussed how her first year as president was an eventful year. There were some changes in the status of some of the clubs. Committees were combined for some of our activities for this New Year. LaPorte County hosted this year’s Michigan City Fall District meeting with many members contributing to its success.

Pag also talked about getting back to rules and guidelines to accomplish teamwork, compromise, give and take, and a willingness to disagree and go on. Goals for this New Year are to visit with each club to learn what the individual clubs are doing and if help is needed with anything.  Attitude is a choice and is so important to success and Pat is here for any needs or concerns.

Membership report: Cindy King updated the group about our upcoming A Taste of Extension Homemakers Event-Swap Till You Drop! to be held Thursday, Oct. 5, at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds Community Building starting at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public to promote membership to our clubs. We also learned about many other projects the other clubs do to support our community.

Educational program report: Our council is in the final stages of developing a scholarship that will be awarded on an annual basis. More updates to follow. Also, our next retreat is Oct. 18 at the extension office at 2:45 p.m.
