Suspect caught shortly after robbery of BP station in LaCrosse Wednesday

A man who allegedly robbed the BP station on Washington Street in LaCrosse at midmorning Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, was caught by police less than an hour later. 

According to information from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, a black male entered the store at about 11:15 a.m., implied that he had a weapon and demanded that the register be opened. He fled south on Washington Street.

About 45 minutes later, Indiana State Police and Starke County Sheriff’s Office deputies informed LaPorte County deputies that the suspect was detained in Starke County.

Police had not yet released the man’s name as of Wednesday afternoon.
