A LaPorte man faces a felony charge of Attempted Placement of a Destructive Device or Explosive after police found a bomb in his house in the 700 block of F Street Wednesday evening, Sept. 20, 2017. Eric R. Weiler, 44, was being held in LaPorte County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

LaPorte Police officers and detectives, along with the LaPorte County Emergency Response Team, went to Weiler’s home at about 4 p.m. Wednesday after receiving information that he allegedly had explosive material. Armed with a search warrant, they apprehended Weiler, then searched the house along with the Porter County Bomb Squad. They found the bomb and the squad later disposed of it. Nearby homes were evacuated during the bomb’s removal.

Police are continuing their investigation and ask that anyone with information call Det/Sgt Airy or Det/Cpl Metcalf at 219-362-9446.

Also assisting at the scene were the LaPorte Fire Department, LaPorte County EMS, FBI, and LaPorte County Drug Task Force.

Another pillar of society apprehended. Fill his house with all the drug dealers and himself, and set it off on the 4th of July. BOOM!!!

      Citizen X,
Read my comment again. I made no threat to anyone. Just a suggestion of what to do with scum like this. Perhaps we could just send them to your house for an intervention and counseling?
As Lawman mentions, its getting old seeing these felons get a slap on the wrist and released.
Maybe you can go visit this “gentleman” in jail and have a good cry with him. Pathetic.

well citizen x- since you call this guy a gentleman I assume you respect him. what does that make you? the judge is merely trying to circumvent a lot of legal expenses and it sounds logical to me.

A person from a good family doesn’t act like this unless he is mentally disturbed. Let the law handle this and be compassionate to his family.
Who knows maybe this could be one of your family. Let’s thank God it was found before he used it. My prayers are with his loved ones. They are wonderful people and are hurting .

Both Judge Roy Bean and Lawman are oddly named because neither of them apparently respects the rule of law. I’m also curious why both mention repeat offenders, since neither this article nor the linked one at WSBT mention this person having a prior record or conviction.

Nevertheless, mob justice is not justice and has no place in our society.

Yep. Like I said. A real pillar of society. I’d hate to think what some of these fluffy people think qualifies as a real crime. I guess bombs and wanting to abduct children isn’t enough for them? What a joke!

ah yes-good ole ”gobnaitx”. the original bleeding heart. sticks up for all of these nuts cause none of it happens to (him-her) personally. as for the ‘repeat” part-just read all of theses arrests-most drug dealers are already on bail for previous offences-this guy may be a newbie but the treat of bombing people puts him in a SPECIAL category. gob-he can be paroled to your care
