Slicers lose a heartbreaker, 37-35, to Crown Point

It was an entertaining nail-biter, but in the end Crown Point emerged with a 2-point advantage to defeat the Slicers Sept. 29, 2017, at Crown Point.

Scoring was similar all night for both teams, with the Slicers scoring 7, 14, 7, and 7 in their respective quarters and the Bulldogs scoring 14, 7, 7, and 9. But LaPorte missed a key field goal in the final seconds that sealed their fate.

On the evening for the Slicers, QB Drayson Nespo carried the ball 32 times for 235 yards and 4 TDs. Nolan Lorenz carried 12 times for 123 yards and 1 TD. Isaac Alexander carried 17 times for 106 yards. Salah Brooks had one interception.  

The Slicers, now 4-3 on the season and 3-2 in conference play, next host rival Michigan City on Homecoming night at Kiwanis Field Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. at Kiwanis. Tickets, $6, go on sale at both high school athletic offices on Monday, Oct. 2.
