LPHS Marching Band strikes gold at state prelims

It was a shiny weekend for the Slicers all around. Fresh off its performances at the Homecoming game Oct. 6, the LaPorte High School Marching Band traveled to Fort Wayne the very next day and earned a Gold Division rating in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Scholastic A Class State Prelims. Not only that, but the band received the designation of “With Distinction” for its high scores in general effect and visual captions.

This means the band advances to the Scholastic Class State Finals. All qualifying bands in Class A for the finals: LaPorte, Warsaw, Perry Meridian, Pike, Fort Wayne North Side, Chesterton, Warren Central, Mt. Vernon, Bedford North Lawrence, Franklin Community, Lafayette Jefferson, Terre Haute North, Fort Wayne Snider, Terre Haute South, Columbus East, Fort Wayne Northrop, Lowell.

The ISSMA Scholastic Class State Finals will be held Oct. 21 at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. LaPorte will perform at 7:50 p.m. EST. Complete schedules are available at www.issma.net.
