Oct. 10, 1917 — Boys from 16-21 and men over 31 will be held liable for draft service in the Army if contemplated legislation passes the next session of Congress.

Oct. 10, 1967 — Something new comes to Indiana Thursday. It’s Discovery Day. Most people remember it as Columbus Day, but by action of the Indiana Legislature, it’s called Discovery Day now.

Oct. 10, 1992 — A new line of South Shore passenger cars will provide nearly 20 percent more seating to morning and afternoon rush hour commuters.

Oct. 10, 2007 — Some neighbors of a gas station being built at 2101 E. Michigan Blvd. in Michigan City are disgusted that construction stopped a few months ago, leaving a mess near their homes.
