All are invited to Oct. 15 community prayer service in wake of recent disasters

Friends and neighbors from the community are invited to a special prayer service for the needs of the nation and the world in the wake of natural disasters and global uncertainty.

The amount of suffering in our nation has been overwhelming recently,” said Rev. Dr. Sally Wicks. “Most of us know someone devastated by the recent set of hurricanes in Texas, Florida and most recently in Puerto Rico. The tragic mass killing Oct. 1 in Los Vegas and the devastating California wildfires add to the sorrow we feel for those who are suffering.”

Wicks is pastor of The Presbyterian Church of LaPorte, which is hosting the prayer service for all who wish to attend at 307 Kingsbury Ave. The brief “Come Together” prayer service at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15,  will include prayer, song and lighting of candles.
