Pauline Revers, 1924-2017

Miss Pauline Revers, 93, died Sunday, October 8, 2017, in Louisville, Kentucky, of complications related to Alzheimer’s.

She was born June 21, 1924, to Stephen and Helen (Keller) Revers in LaPorte, Indiana.

Miss Revers graduated from LaPorte High School and resided in LaPorte. It was in 1942 that her mother died and Miss Revers declined a nursing scholarship to remain at home to care for her father and two younger brothers. In 1952, she was a member of the first graduating class of the Indiana University Dental College in Indianapolis in her profession of dental hygiene. She was a charter member of Sigma Phi Alpha Honor Society of Dental Hygiene and was later awarded a lifetime membership in the International Dental Honor Society. She was also a past president of the Indiana Dental Hygiene Society and had attended dental seminars around the world, including Switzerland. She was associated with dental practices in Gary, South Bend, Michigan City and LaPorte for over 50 years.

Miss Revers was successful as she applied herself at Indiana University’s College of Dentistry and, following her career in dental hygiene, she assisted her brother, Richard, at the Revers Company, a flooring and window store in LaPorte. Miss Revers also owned and managed real estate. She was a member of Women’s Literary in LaPorte, and a member of St. Joseph’s and St. Peter Catholic Churches. Under the direction of Fr. John Frawley, Miss Revers was also a teacher of Catholic Doctrine for students of St. Peter’s Parish. She held the office of trustee in the Legion of Mary and was president of St. Peter’s Rosary Society for several terms.

Miss Revers was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Edward, Joseph and Richard; as well as her three sisters, Mary Foster, Elizabeth Nowicki and Genevieve Newland. She will be greatly missed by dear friends and relatives, including many nieces and nephews, for her kindness and concern for the happiness and faith of others.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, October 11, at the Arch L. Heady Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Rd., Louisville, Kentucky, where she resided in her later years. A Mass will be held in her memory on Saturday, October 14, at 12:30 p.m. CDT at St. Peter Catholic Church in LaPorte, Indiana. Burial at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, will follow the Mass. There will be a one-hour visitation in the church vestibule before the Mass.

    Pauline was a lovely lady. She always had time to talk to you and ask how are you doing. I missed her when she didn’t go by my house anymore. I do know she moved closer to her nieces and nephews which she adored.

    Pauline was a wonderful, energetic lady. I had the pleasure of meeting her and Richard several years ago. The loving bond between brother and sister was amazing to see. I am sure there is much peace knowing they are reunited.
