Dining with Diabetes: Meal Planning & Cooking School starts Nov. 8

Do you or someone you care about have Type 2 Diabetes? Purdue Extension’s Dining with Diabetes program will help you select and prepare healthy, easy to make, and tasty meals. Bring in your favorite recipes for a makeover, enjoy a light meal featuring recipes from the Dining with Diabetes collection, and learn important information about how to make a positive lifestyle change. Topics include planning a healthy meal made with “My Plate” using sweeteners; reducing sodium, fat and carbohydrates; increasing fiber; eating out; and healthy choices at parties and celebrations.

The four-session class will begin Wednesday, Nov. 8, and continue on Wednesdays, Nov. 15 and 29 and Dec. 6, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Purdue Extension Office-LaPorte, 2857 W. Ind. 2, LaPorte. Registration is required. Scholarships are available for those needing financial assistance. Otherwise, the course fee is $25 per person or $35 when attending with a friend and sharing materials. The fee includes course materials and a light meal at each session.
