Woman charged with stabbing boyfriend while her daughter was present

Nov. 25 press release from LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office:

On Thursday morning, Nov. 23, 2017, shortly after 4 a.m., deputies from the Westville Police Department and the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance in the town of Westville. The reporting party in the case, 40-year-old Larry L. King, was waiting for officers at Casey’s General Store on north Flynn Road in Westville.

King related that he was involved in a relationship with Torrie Fraley, 24, and that he had been babysitting Fraley’s 8-year-old daughter at her home in the 600 block of Chandler Drive in Westville while Fraley was at work. King stated that he was sleeping when he was awakened by Fraley hitting and punching him. The disturbance escalated to the point where furniture was being overturned and Fraley armed herself with two knives, eventually stabbing King in the upper left arm causing a laceration and bleeding. King fled the home with the 8-year-old child and waited for police to arrive at the nearby store.

Fraley was located in the home on Chandler Drive, was found to be very intoxicated and was transported to LaPorte Hospital to be medically cleared due to her level of intoxication. After consulting with the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office, it was determined that Fraley was to be charged with Battery with a Deadly Weapon, a level 5 felony. Fraley was lodged in the LaPorte County Jail on that charge and will appear in LaPorte Circuit Court later in the week. Fraley’s daughter was turned over to the care of a relative.

The investigation is ongoing. King refused medical treatment. This case is being investigated by the Westville Police Department, which was assisted by the sheriff’s office and the prosecutor’s office. Inquiries should be directed to Westvlle Marshal Darin Mercer.
