Plenty of all ages turn out to welcome Santa to town

Holiday cheer permeated downtown LaPorte under sunny skies and unseasonably warm temperatures Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, during the annual Santa Parade. The tradition of Santa’s arrival on top of the LaPorte City Fire Department’s aerial truck brought smiles to many faces, young and old, who lined the Lincolnway parade route. And the parade offered many more festive sights, as seen in Bob’s fun photos.

Kids still have the chance to visit with Santa at his chalet every Saturday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Plaza 618 until Dec. 23. Coinciding with those times will be a Winter Market organized by the LaPorte Farmers Market on Dec. 2 and the Downtown Cookie Walk on Dec. 9. Plaza 618 is the public plaza at the southeast corner of Lincolnway and Monroe.

Also, don’t forget that the deadline is Nov. 30 for kids to submit their cards in the Coloring Contest to win Chamber Bucks for Breakfast with Santa at T-Berry’s Diner, scheduled for Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. Kids can pick up cards to color at the Greater LaPorte Chamber of Commerce office at the depot, LaPorte County Family YMCA and LaPorte County Public Library. Drop off colored cards at the chamber office by Nov. 30. The finished cards will be sent to our troops.
