Dec. 2, 1917 — LaPorte grocerymen receive word that their businesses will be governed under the food administration of Herbert Hoover.

Dec. 2, 1967 — LaPorte retail stores will remain open until 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, on and up to Friday, Dec. 22. Saturday closing hours will remain at 5:30 p.m.

Dec. 2, 1992 — Fire Station No. 2 on the north side of LaPorte at Pine Lake Avenue might be closed if existing plans for the expansion of the avenue are followed.

Dec. 2, 2007 — Michigan City Area Schools teachers give Superintendent Michael Harding a vote of no confidence.
