Jan. 4, 1918 — Lows’ Clothing Store in downtown LaPorte is featuring some Norfolk Mackinaw skating coats for girls.

Jan. 4, 1968 — Sen. William H. Taylor of LaPorte is a key figure in the hush-hush plan for a supersonic airport that must be built on the Lake Michigan shoreline area within the next five years.

Jan. 4, 1993 — Members of the 1993 LaPorte County Commission are Norm Pahs, Mike Quinn and Steve Wurster.

Jan. 4, 2008 — Now that Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mike Huckabee have won the Iowa caucuses, each moves on with the rest of the candidates to the New Hampshire and Michigan primaries.
