Jan. 5, 1918 — Germany and the United States are now engaged in a real race to see which can turn out the greatest number of aviators and aeroplanes before spring.

Jan. 5, 1968 — Cupid’s arrow outdistanced divorce courts here in 1967, however the number of divorces increased while marriage license applications decreased from 1966.

Jan. 5, 1993 — A charge or charges of child molesting are expected to be filed against former Kesling Middle School band teacher David Dieitez, who resigned effective Dec. 21. The case involves a female Kesling student.

Jan. 5, 2008 — The LaPorte Board of Public Works approves previously halted renovations to the historic LaPorte Depot.
