Jan. 9, 1918 — The training of dogs for war service begins today. Twenty-seven men will train Airedales and other breeds to carry messages from the trenches to headquarters in the rear of firing lines.

Jan. 9, 1968 — At the annual meeting of St. Paul United Church of Christ, the congregation approves a $5,000 gift to the fund campaign for a new LaPorte Hospital.

Jan. 9, 1993 — The new LaPorte Hospital Community Health Center is on line for a target startup date of April 1.

Jan. 9, 2008 — A snow melt and thunderstorm leave parts of LaPorte County submerged.
