Peter “Pete” Costello, 1935-2018

Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, is handling the arrangements for Peter “Pete” James Costello, 82, of LaPorte, who passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018, at his home.

Peter was born in Charleston, WV, on July 26, 1935, and adopted by Peter and Mary (Borner) Costello. 

On May 26, 1954, in Chicago, IL, he married Shirley Stombaugh, who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Peter (Debra) Costello of Michigan City, IN, Thomas (Darlene) Costello of LaPorte, Patricia Walters of LaPorte, Kimberly (Randy) Bowser of LaPorte, Jamie (Glen) LeCount of Roland, IA, and Timothy (Jennifer) Costello of Avon, IN; daughter-in-law, Laura Costello; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Steven Costello.

Pete retired with 21 years of service from McGills Manufacturing in Valparaiso, IN. He was a member of the Beechwood Senior Golf League. Pete enjoyed woodworking, painting, golf, and watching the Cubs.  He especially loved his big family.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. CST Monday, January 15, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with family friend Dave Perry officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. CST on Sunday, January 14, and from 10 a.m. CST until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service and interment will take place at a later date.

    I was so saddened to read of Pete’s passing. What a great guy he was. Shirley and Kim, in this difficult time I pray that God will grant you and the rest of your family the comfort and peace that you need to get through this.
