Michigan City woman dies in crash; weather, speed considered factors

Information from Michigan City Police Department

A Michigan City woman died after her car crashed and flipped in icy conditions on Springland Avenue Friday morning, Jan. 12, 2018.

Amanda Trampski, 34, was driving on Springland at about 10 a.m. when she lost control and the car struck a utility pole, then flipped on its roof.

Several witnesses tried to free Trampski from the car but were unable to do so because of the severity of the car’s damage. Michigan City firefighters arrived and freed her. She was immediately transported to St. Anthony Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officers believe that speed and road conditions were both contributing factors.
