Feb. 7, 1918 — The Tuscania, carrying American troops to France via Great Britain, was sunk. A LaPorte boy may be on the list of those missing.

Feb. 7, 1968 — Governor Otto Kerner of Illinois announces he will not seek a third term.

Feb. 7, 1993 — General Motors Corp. plans to battle back against critics who say the nation’s biggest automaker manufactured millions of unsafe pickup trucks over a period of 14 years.

Feb. 7, 2008 — LaPorte native Brian Bishop, whose wife was killed in the Lane Bryant shooting in Tinley Park, Ill., speaks about his beloved wife who was also a mother, daughter, sister and aunt.
