Feb. 13, 1918 — St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its parsonage in Otis fall prey to flames. The parochial school building was saved by heroic effort.

Feb. 13, 1968 — The acting superintendent at Beatty Memorial Hospital in Westville claims more than 50 percent of the elderly patients there are not actually mentally ill.

Feb. 13, 1993 — Most of the American troops in Somalia could be home by April under a plan being prepared by the United Nations.

Feb. 13, 2008 — Former Slicer Chris Bootcheck heads into MLB spring training with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
