March 7, 1918 — The embargoes of the allies and the German submarine blockade have brought Denmark to the actual verge of starvation.

March 7, 1968 — State Rep. John F. Shawley files for state senator from LaPorte County.

March 7, 1993 — Republican Edwin “Doc” Mueller and Democrat Shaw Friedman are chosen as their parties’ chairmen.

March 7, 2008 — South county residents are still swamped by the overflowing Kankakee and Yellow rivers.
